PURC Engages Consumers in the Central Region

The Central regional office of the PURC, as part of efforts to get closer to consumers and understand their needs, organised an educational program dubbed “Breakfast with PURC”. The event occurred at Hutch Land City in Abura, where over two hundred (200) consumers were engaged. Flyers detailing the Commission’s contact details and how to use the PURC Electricity Consumption Estimator (PECE) and the PURC Tariff Reckoner applications were shared with the consumers.

This initiative by the Regional Office was conceived to bring together all categories of consumers, including businessmen and women, students, technocrats, teachers, nurses and other sector workers, to have a conversation on service delivery and discuss pertinent issues relating to the functions of the Commission and service delivery.

The Regional Office also took the opportunity to educate consumers on the Commission’s role in ensuring quality utility service delivery from service providers. The participants were taken through the PURC Electricity Consumption Estimator (PECE) and the PURC Tariff Reckoner applications. A complaint desk was also set up for consumers with utility complaints to instantly lodge their concerns and have them addressed. A total of five (5) complaints were received at the event.
