PURC Provides Four Mechanised Bore Holes in The Dormaa West District of The Bono Region

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has handed over four mechanized boreholes to residents in four communities within the Dormaa West District of the Bono Region. These boreholes are located at the African Faith Area, Polyclinic Area, Kwakuanya and Kyekyewere.

The handing over ceremony was undertaken on October 24, 2024, by the PURC Bono Regional team, together with the District Manager of GWL in Dormaa; Mr. Justin Dayirder. Each mechanized borehole has a 10,000-liter water tank, two overhead standpipes and two ground pipes. The project is expected to serve about 3,000 residents who often depend on unwholesome water sources for their daily activities.

The project was officially handed over to the Dormaa West District Assembly through its District Chief Executive (DCE), Hon. Francis Kwadwo Oppong and in the presence of opinion leaders, assembly members and community members.

The DCE, on behalf of the beneficiary communities, expressed his appreciation to the Commission for its assistance in ensuring that residents have access to potable drinking water, which was a major challenge in the communities. Beneficiaries of the project including the chiefs, elders and opinion leaders, expressed their gratitude and joy to the Commission. They shared their experiences on how the project has brought relief to the communities and its impact on the daily lives of the inhabitants.

The community was advised to put in place stringent measures to enable them to sustainably maintain the project.
