
The Ashanti Regional Office of the Commission, on September 15 2024, engaged the traditional leaders and residents of Agric Nzema in Kumasi, Ashanti Region. The engagement was held at the palace of Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo, Paramount Chief of Agric Nzema, as part of an initiative dubbed “PURC in the Palace”. This initiative is aimed at providing first-hand information on the existence and functions of the Commission to traditional leaders their subjects.
The regional team leveraged the Akwasidae festival celebrations to educate consumers on their rights and responsibilities, and the Commission’s complaint management process. The team also outlined some energy and water conservation tips to help consumers manage their electricity and water usage.
Nana Nkansah Boadu Ayeboafo, in his remarks, commended the Commission for the initiative and reposing its trust in traditional leaders as ambassadors of the PURC. He also appealed to the Regional Office to intensify and extend the program to other Paramouncies within the Ashanti Region and beyond. The Paramount Chief was accompanied by the Queen Nana Adwoa Takyiwaa, Nana Danso Abiam (Kontihene), Nana Baffuor Fosu (Manwerehene), Nana Akwasi Afirimu (Kyidomhene) and Nana Amoakohene (Gyaasehene), all of Agric Nzema traditional council.
The regional team used the opportunity to receive and resolve complaints from the participants. The team also provided participants with the Commission’s contact details and encouraged them to contact the PURC when they have electricity and or water related issues.
