PURC Hands Over Four Mechanised Boreholes to Ho Central Communities

The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has commissioned and handed over four (4) mechanised boreholes to residents of four communities within the Ho Central Municipality of the Volta Region. The beneficiary communities are Avee Kpefe, Avee Tokor, Avee Gbogame and Tanyigbe Anyigbe.

The facilities were officially handed over on December 4, 2025 by the PURC Volta Regional team in collaboration with the Ho Central Municipal Chief Executive (MCE), Hon. Stephen Adom and the Regional Commercial Manager of Ghana Water Limited, Mr. Divine Semevor.

Each borehole is equipped with a 10,000-liter water tank, two overhead standpipes and two ground pipes. The installations are expected to serve an estimated 5,000 residents who have long relied on unsafe water sources for their daily needs.

The handover ceremony was attended by chiefs, opinion leaders, assembly members, teachers and community members. Receiving the project on behalf of the Municipal Assembly, MCE Hon. Stephen Adom expressed profound appreciation to the PURC, noting that access to potable water had been a major challenge in the beneficiary communities.

Community leaders, including chiefs and elders, commended the Commission for the intervention, sharing how the project has already begun improving the quality of life of residents.

The PURC team urged the communities to adopt effective measures to ensure regular maintenance of the boreholes to guarantee their sustainability and long-term benefits.
