The PURC has since July 2022 embarked on a nationwide audit of public utilities to enable the Commission to verify projects being undertaken by the regulated utilities. These audits are based on projects stated in the 2022-2025 tariff proposals, which were submitted to the Commission by the Utilities.

The essence of these exercises is to ensure that, regulated utilities apply their approved revenue requirements judiciously to projects which will positively impact their operations and lead to an improvement in service delivery to customers. These exercises will take the staff of the Commission around electricity generation, transmission and distribution networks, as well as water treatment plants.
