The 2021 Tariff Review process is progressing steadily with the submission of tariff proposals by utilities at its final stage. Following the initial submission of the tariff data templates by the Utilities to the Commission, a series of sessions have been held with the utilities to clarify anomalies and address any relevant issues related to the data submitted.
This activity was done to underscore the Commission’s efforts to ensure transparency and credibility in its tariff review process. The utilities that participated in these follow up consultations were Ghana National Petroleum Company (GNPC), Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC), Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), Enclave Power Company (EPC), Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCO), Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG) and Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL).
The outcome of this consultation was positive leading to the utilities having the opportunity to resubmit the appropriate data and provide supplementary information to assist the Commission in decision making.
The tariff review process is still at the analysis and data confirmation stage. The Commission is still expected to embark on comprehensive consultations with other key stakeholders to ensure that all interests are considered to enhance the transparency in the tariff process before a final decision is made.
