The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has officially commissioned its 2019/2020 Pro-poor water projects in a ceremony held at Susuanso in the Tano North Municipality of the Ahafo Region on Thursday, 29th October, 2020.
The guest of honour for the ceremony, Hon. Akosua Frema Osei-Opare (Chief of Staff of the Republic of Ghana), commissioned the mechanized borehole in Susuanso to commemorate the official opening of four boreholes constructed in the Tano North Municipality by the PURC. Other dignitaries who were in attendance include Hon. Freda Prempeh, MP for Tano North Constituency, Nana Oberempong Antwi Tabiri, Chief of Susuanso among others.
Hon. Freda Prempeh and Nana Antwi Tabiri both lauded the PURC for constructing the mechanized boreholes and thanked the Commission on behalf of the people of Susuanso and Tano North, for ensuring that members in the community have access to clean portable water.
The PURC Pro-Poor water project is a collaboration with Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) which is aimed at supporting poor and deprived communities with clean and portable water. The Commission has currently constructed 25 mechanised boreholes out of a projected 40 across the country.
