Visit to the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC)

The Executive Secretary, together with some staff of the Commission paid a courtesy call on the Public Interest and Accountability Committee (PIAC) Secretariat on Tuesday, October 4, 2022.

The purpose of the visit was to explore areas of collaboration between the two institutions, specifically with respect to data sharing on natural gas, research and policy dissemination, and advocacy.

During the visit, both PIAC and the Commission recounted their respective challenges and opportunities in the proposed areas of collaboration. The Executive Secretary, in his remarks, explained that the collaboration is important as the Commission makes efforts to strengthen its research capacity while enhancing efficiency in its operations and regulatory mandate. The Chairman of PIAC also intimated that the collaboration would afford them the needed insight on gas pricing for detailed interrogation of gas-related issues. The Vice Chairman of PIAC further advised that due to the transient nature of Committee members, a stronger collaboration is to be established with the PIAC Secretariat.
