Electricity and Water Utility Services
The Public Utilities Regulatory Commission (PURC) has announced the process for the 2021 Major Tariff Review. The process which includes several activities has begun with capturing of relevant data through planned stakeholder consultations, the first of which is the development of appropriate template for gathering operational and financial information of power and water utilities.
A tariff pre-filing conference was held with the utility service providers in Accra at Alisa Hotel, with strict observation of the COVID-19 prevention protocol, to discuss the template for onward filing. These deliberations spanned over a period of two days from February 09 – 10, 2021 with the Electricity Company of Ghana (ECG), Northern Electricity Distribution Company (NEDCo), Enclave Power Company (EPC), Volta River Authority (VRA), Ghana Grid Company (GRIDCo), Ghana National Gas Company (GNGC) and the Ghana Water Company Limited (GWCL) participating.
The two-day tariff pre-filing conferences were chaired by the Executive Secretary of the Public Utilities Regulatory Commission, Mrs Mami Dufie Ofori. This activity is expected to ensure production of appropriate and credible data from the utilities to enable the PURC arrive at the best tariff decision.
